The Domestic/Moggy/Moggie. A mish-mash of unknown domesticated breeds, the faithful moggy is the most common domestic cat.

A cat’s eyes are so expressive and can tell so much about how she’s feeling at that moment. Whether a slow-blink is actually a cat’s take on a kiss is perhaps open for argument, but many in the behavior field, including myself, believe that in the right environment, it is a sign of calming and yes, affection.

6 Cats That Don’t Shed

Ragdoll. The Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct colourpoint coat. It is a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Like all long haired cats, Ragdolls need grooming to ensure that their fur does not mat.

A prospective Ragdoll owner can expect to pay in the neighborhood of $400 to $500 for a pet quality cat while show cats will start at $1,000 and go up. If the price of a kitten is too high or too low, beware that the breeder may not be on the up and up.

What is a pedigree cat? Pedigree cats have been bred specifically to exhibit particular physical characteristics and may also show some breed related behaviours (for example Siamese cats are often quite ‘talkative’ and noisy compared to some moggies or some other breeds).

Part 2 Finding a Cat to Buy

Exotic Shorthair. The Exotic Shorthair is a breed of cat developed to be a short-haired version of the Persian. The Exotic is similar to the Persian in many ways, including temperament and conformation, a flat nose and face with the exceptions of the short dense coat.

Preparing for Your Baby’s Arrival. Keep your cats indoors, and do not befriend neighborhood cats while pregnant! The feline parasitic infection toxoplasmosis can be caused by a cat eating small mammals or birds. It’s also best not to eat or feed your cat raw or undercooked meat.

There is a myth out there that Ragdoll cats don’t shed. I have never experienced a non-shedding Ragdoll cat! They are long-haired cats, so of course they are going to shed and there is going to be a lot of hair because they are long haired!

Males weight between 15 and 20 pounds, while their slightly smaller female counterparts weigh 10 to 15 pounds. The average life expectancy of a ragdoll is 15 to 20 years if kept indoors. Outside cats usually have much shorter life spans since they are exposed to the elements and other animals.

Ragdolls are generally healthy, but bladder stones and a heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy are among the conditions that have been reported in the breed. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common form of heart disease in cats. It causes thickening (hypertrophy) of the heart muscle.

We aren’t exactly sure about Grumpy Cats breed; but she looks nothing like her mother or father. She looks similar to a Ragdoll or Showshoe; but there have never been any of that breed around the house. Her mom is a calico domestic short hair cat and her father has grey and white stripes.

The Ragdoll is an affectionate and intelligent cat. Ragdoll cats tend to be more interested in humans than some breeds of cats. They are gentle cats, and usually play without extending their claws. Ragdolls tend to be floor cats, not jumpers.
