Under Brian X. Foley as Supervisor, the Town of Brookhaven has the lowest town property taxes on Long Island. 

During his tenure as Supervisor, Foley increased the town's bond rating to its highest level in Brookhaven history. 

But New York State’s property taxes are the highest in the nation, and about 79% above the national average.

Outside of NYC, school property taxes make up 62% of the property tax burden.  Downstate suburban counties are in the nation’s top ten in terms of percent of household income devoted to paying property taxes.

As a State Senator, Brian X. Foley will fight to cap property taxes and institute a circuit breaker that will take the burden off of working families and seniors while protecting our schools' funding.  He believes that only with the circuit breaker, which ties property tax to income levels, can we make the tax cap work for middle class families instead of against them.
